Set up a custom domain at Hostinger

How to point your domain registered at Hostinger to your Sosta website.

What you need

A Hostinger domain (e.g. deinhaus.de)
Access to hPanel (Hostinger control panel)
10 minutes of your time

Step by step

Log in to hPanel

Go to hpanel.hostinger.com and sign in with your credentials.

Open domain management

In the left sidebar click "Domains". There you see all your domains. Click the domain you want to use for Sosta.

Open the DNS zone

In the domain detail view you find the tab or button "DNS / Nameserver" or "Edit DNS zone".

If the domain is at another host and only the management is at Hostinger: make sure Hostinger nameservers are active.

Create the CNAME record

You need a CNAME record. Click "New DNS record" or "Add entry".

Apex domain (without www)?

Hostinger does not always allow CNAME on apex domains. If you want to use deinhaus.de (without www), proceed as follows:

Create a CNAME on www (pointing to cname.sosta.app)
In the Hostinger panel: enable "Domain forwarding" from deinhaus.de to www.deinhaus.de
Then enter www.deinhaus.de as the custom domain in Sosta

Save

Click "Save" or "Update". Hostinger confirms with a short success message.

Verify in Sosta

In Sosta go to Website → Settings. Enter your domain (e.g. www.deinhaus.de) under "Custom domain". Click "Verify DNS".

If the CNAME has not propagated everywhere yet: wait 15 minutes, then try again. Usually it takes 15 minutes to 2 hours.

Once verified, Sosta automatically obtains the TLS certificate (HTTPS). Typically 1–5 minutes.

Go live

When the TLS status switches to "ISSUED", your custom domain is ready. Go to Website → Go live and click "Go live".

Your site is now reachable under your own domain with the HTTPS padlock.

Common problems

CNAME verification fails

Most likely the DNS entry has not propagated yet. Wait 30 minutes and try again. If it still fails after 2 hours:

Check that you really saved the CNAME
Make sure you use Hostinger nameservers (not external)
Test with dig www.deinhaus.de CNAME in the terminal

TLS status stuck on "PENDING"

Let's Encrypt provisions the certificate every 5 minutes. If PENDING persists after 30 minutes: write to us at hallo@sosta.app with your domain — we check the TLS provisioning log.
